Calgary

Calgary, Alberta is the largest city in Alberta with a population of over 1 million people.  The economy is largely fueled (no pun intended!) by the oil and gas industry and also agriculture.

This is a view of downtown Calgary.

This fitness enthusiast was doing the stairs; there are 167 stairs up to the top of McHugh Bluff.  He wanted to you to know that the people in Calgary are friendly!

This is a view of the Rocky Mountains; on a clear day the view is much better.  The Rocky Mountains are about a one hour drive from Calgary.  People come from all over the world to ski, hike, camp, mountain climb, bike, or simply admire the beautiful mountains.

This is the Bow River which runs through Calgary.  When it is hot out, you will see people floating, rafting, kayaking, fishing, and canoeing in the river.

This is the Calgary Tower.  It opened in 1968 and is 160 metres high.  This was once the tallest building on the Prairies, as you can tell is isn't any longer!
Calgary is also known for the Calgary Stampede, "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth".  This is a 10 day rodeo held every year in July and is the world's richest and most competitive rodeo.  Unfortunately Flat Nicole will not be in Calgary in July for the rodeo, but here are some pictures I took last year!
